Konkuk University Medical Center Signs MOU with Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Konkuk University Holdings, and StemExOne

[Medical Newspaper · Ilgan Bosa, Reporter Nam Jae-ryun] Konkuk University Medical Center recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Konkuk University Holdings, and StemExOne to strengthen its clinical research capabilities.

Cho Young-il, Vice President for Research at Konkuk University Medical Center, said, “We are pleased to establish this multilateral partnership as part of our efforts to strengthen the hospital’s research capabilities. We plan to expand our research organization to ensure effective collaboration among all participating institutions.”

Shin Jeong-eun, Director of the Clinical Trial Center at Konkuk University Medical Center, said, “Konkuk University Medical Center, Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Konkuk University Holdings, and StemExOne each possess outstanding capabilities in their respective fields. We expect strong synergies through regular collaboration and mutual support.”

Ssang-Goo Cho, CEO of StemExOne, said, “All of the participating institutions are located in close proximity, creating highly favorable conditions for collaborative research. Through this agreement, we plan to advance effective research in gene and cell therapies.”

Kang Rin-woo, Vice President of Konkuk University Holdings, said, “This agreement will enable us to strengthen R&D and growth support for subsidiaries and university startups by connecting them with Konkuk University’s outstanding infrastructure, including its university medical center and veterinary hospital. We expect the partnership to further promote technology commercialization at Konkuk University and generate successful business cases.”

Meanwhile, Konkuk University Medical Center held a ceremony on November 29 to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening research capabilities.

At the ceremony, Yoo Kwang-ha, President of Konkuk University Medical Center, said, “Our goal is to rank among the top 10 institutions nationwide in research funding within five years. We will make substantial investments in research infrastructure and develop research into a key driver of the hospital’s next phase of growth.”
